According to the readings, 70% of us spend an hour each day online and most of us have high speed internet. Technology is taking over more and more as the years go on and it is making more of an impact on us than we think. Days in the classroom are very different than what they were before, now students are bent over laptops instead of desks. As I was reading in "Reading 3," I read that at Kyrene School District their desks are covered in laptops and interactive screens. "The district has invested roughly $33 million in such technologies." The school districts are spending an enormous amount on these technologies and keep raising the bar for districts that might not have that much money to spend on technology in the classroom. The digital devices allow the students to work at their own pace and become very independent.
On the other hand, this technology every day is having the students not have as much student to student interaction or student to teacher interaction. I think this will highly impact the students in the long run with how they interact in the "real world." The school districts are getting higher number of students which end up needing more technology, meaning more and more money spent. Studies have shown that students test score have been rising since this technology came about. Also, in "Reading 3," it discusses how class sizes have risen and the teachers are no longer able to stay effective in teaching everybody because of the higher class sizes.

  1. Almost every one of my professors uses laptops in their classes. Some days it's nice if you want to keep to yourself and not have much interaction, however employers need to see potential employees interacting with each other. Being able to interact with a group of students and accomplishing a task is very important in the work place. Technology can be a great way to get the students involved, but it also can make them one dimensional. A great balance of the two would be an effective way for professors with teaching their lesson plan.

  3. Technology is important in the class room. It helps students who can't learn through lecture, understand the material because it is more hands on. Using technology helps students expand there computer skills, and web skills. It also helps students interact more during the class period and usually helps them understand the material better.
